AA (talk · contribs) I've been an editor since March 2007 and in the 6+ months of my tenure, I have edited a wide variety of articles, been involved in a few conflicts, done many vandalism reversions and nominated over 500 articles for deletion (via CSD, PROD, XfD processes).

My primary reason for becoming an editor was to enhance some of the Bangladeshi aviation articles which were a bit lacking in substance.

Verifiability were met. It became GA in May 2007 and I took a bit of a breather to work on other articles before finally giving it another drive to take it to FAC. I met some very helpful editors along the way, with particular mention to Aditya
who helped tremendously on the Biman Bangladesh Airlines article.

I try to help out where I can and made many improvements to the

WP:LoCE project when I sought their help with Biman Bangladesh Airlines. → AA (talk) — 15:46, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply

Review by Aditya Kabir

Well... my review of AA has to come from two separate sides. As an editor in general I find AA to be a personification of academic quality, though sometimes a little too strict. But, if we're to choose between wonderful information and reliable information I'd prefer to stand by this person. AA's efforts to keep the Wikipedia an honorable source of information free of biases is a source of inspiration for me. Islma related articles, the area that receives most of his monitoring, is the most debated issue on earth right now, with the globe split between supporters and the opposition, his calm adherence to objectivity is a virtue few of us have.

But, as a Bangladeshi Wikipedian, AA has not embarked yet on improving a substantial number of articles related to Bangladesh. A great loss for Bangladesh related articles, as there are only a handful of editors from Bangladesh currently active on Wikipedia, and not too many drifting or one-shot editors either. I really wish to see the epic journey of Biman Bangladesh Airlines coming to an end (of course by becoming an FA), so some of this person's tremendous energy is diverted to other Bangladesh related articles. And, that beyond the whole set of Bangladesh aviation related articles (where AA's contributions are already shining). May be Grameen related articles?

And, oh, this person has also helped me to improve my signature... a very nice friendly gesture that means a lot to a volunteer who can lay his hands on the Wikipedia after 14 hour long weekdays, ofetn to find rudeness and hostility. If I see a worthy Bangladeshi administrator-in-the-making beyond the sole figure of User:Ragib, it has to be AA. Cheers. Aditya(talkcontribs) 17:29, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't quite remember if I found AA or if AA found me, but every encounter we've had since then has been helpful and informative. He is often the voice of reason on very contentious articles and has at times even reigned myself in when I let

Fatimah article and was impressed by the calmness he maintained in the face of numerous insults and other infractions. In addition, he almost seems tireless with both small tweaks and major contributions to oft-neglected articles, and you'd be hard pressed to find an editor with equal knowledge of the Bengali flight industry. A real top notch guy that has earned mad respect. MezzoMezzo 05:02, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
cite quran}} template to standardise the way citations were referenced. I grappled with Parser Functions
to enable an all-encompassing template replacing 5 different ones that were previously used.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
The biggest conflict I encountered was with the article
    civil
at all times and refrain from revert-warring and try to discuss the issues. I also lend my views to articles that I'm not actively editing to try and push discussions forward in trying to reach a consensus.
  3. How do you feel when someone asks for your help?
A nice question. Thank you for asking. Helping others solve a problem or achieve a task gives me a sense of pride. Wikipedia is a volunteer community and everyone does what they do here because they enjoy it. So if I can save someone some time by doing something I am more suited to, it will enable them to make better use of that time. I always try to respond to a request made on my talk page and enjoy "meeting" other editors as this is one of the ways to "break the ice".
