Problems:
  1. info from pre-Union of Brest needs moved to History of Christianity in Ukraine;
  2. Needs a general POV check
Problem:
Some of you may have run across an editor named Lima before, he is not Orthodox, but claims to be able to interpret Orthodox teaching on a number of sensitive issues to try and bring them into conformity with the Vatican line; specifically, he is now seeking to apply the concept of "Original Sin" as developed by Saint Augustine, to all Churches that historically have never had anything to do with Augustine, and he is willing to dig up any statement by anyone in any other church, and selectively quote it out of context to "demonstrate" that all the churches are aligned with the Vatican on this question. I can't speak for every Eastern Church, but I know that in the Coptic-affiliated Churches, there is no notion of "Original Sin" in Augustinian terms of laying a guilt trip on infants from birth, and this has always been one of the main sticking points. He is edit warring and continually reverting my versions because he says I have no support for the Orthodox view. I have just thrown up a disputed tag and am requesting experts on the true Orthodox doctrine on all the various Eastern Churches to look over the section and set the matter straight in more neutral language. With regards,

I too would be glad of any input. I am only seeking illumination on what really is Orthodox teaching on the effects of Adam's Fall on his descendants. I am certainly not trying to claim that Orthodox Churches simply accept St Augustine's interpretation. The Catholic Church does not do so. Perhaps not even Calvinists do.

Request for comments (informal)

There is a discussion over at WP:RSN regarding the use of a certain book as a source for the article The Poem of the Man-God. Part of the discussion involves the commendation of the book in question by a Bishop of a branch of the Syriac Orthodox Church. Some editors are questioning his existence, thus bringing into question the credibility of the book itself. It seems there is sufficient evidence to show this Bishop is an authentic Bishop of the Syriac Orthodox Church or one of its branches, but some disagree. This is an informal request for comments, since some of you that monitor this noticeboard may have additional information pertaining to that part of the discussion. For those interested, instead of reading the entire thread, you can begin reading from near the end where I summarize the three remaining issues of contention and arguments, with a paragraph for each. Your comments are welcome Equitor, Akarige, Ghirlandajo, Antonios Aigyptos, InfernoXV. Arkenstrone (talk) 02:44, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
