]Geographical names of Ethiopia Hi everyone, I'm the guy who some 15 or so years ago originally created many of the articles on administrative subdivisions in Ethiopia, & have been away for the most part for the last 10 years. Now I'll state here that many of these articles were little more than starts, containing some demographic information, a bit of geographic information based on the current maps, & maybe a few other details I managed to scrape from the sources I had. So I must say that I'm impressed with how some of these articles have matured & are useful & full of information. I hope the people who improved them are proud of their work, because they deserve to be. Much of the time I simply could not find much about some of the various places, which frustrated me. Times have changed, & there's a lot more on the Internet (& in printed sources available outside of Africa) about Ethiopia.
On the other hand, I can see that not everyone liked my choices -- but that's okay, since at the time I was simply copying from the printed documents in front of me: sometimes the document was out of date, or used an obsolete style of transliteration, or just wasn't the best. I used what I had, crossed my fingers & hoped for the best. And accept that some of the choices were simply wrong.
I need to point out that there is a process for changing the names of articles. What one has to do is to go to the specific tab in the browser, click on it & type in the new name -- hopefully after one has posted their intent to change the name, with the reason for it. (It's actually a good idea to provide some kind of persuasive argument for the change.) The process is not to do things like change the names in the links or create an article with the new name & cut-n-paste the text into that. Doing either of those breaks links thus impairing the usefulness of Wikipedia.
I don't know if posting this information here will prevent these well-intended but harmful edits, but one has to at least try. Thanks for reading. -- llywrch (talk) 22:54, 26 May 2023 (UTC)

Women in Green's 5th Edit-a-thon
Hello WikiProject Ethiopia:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2023!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2023, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!
