Биография
Родился 5 января 1944 года в семье Хаймана Виктора Кантера и Корали Лилиан Кантер (в девичестве — Хайм)[2].
В 1964 году получил бакалавра гуманитарных наук с отличием в Ливерпульском университете и там же в 1969 году доктора философии[2].
В 1966—1970 годах — научный сотрудник, 1971—1972 годах — преподаватель (lector[англ.]) Университета Стратклайда[2].
Преподаватель (1972—1978 годах — reader), в 1983—1987 годах — профессор прикладной психологии, в 1987—1994 года — профессор психологии и в 1987—1991 года — заведующий кафедрой психологии Университета Суррея[2]; где занимался разработкой расследовательской психологии[англ.].
В 1981—2002 годах —
.С 1988 года — лицензированный психолог (англ. Chartered Psychologist, CPsychol)[2].
С 1994 года — профессор психологии, в настоящее время —
профессор-эмерит психологии кафедры психологии Ливерпульского университета[2]. Был директором Центра расследовательской психологии Ливерпульского университета
