Jean Pierre Adrien Warion (21 April 1837 - 4 March 1880) was a French medical doctor employed by the French army, and he collected plants between 1861 and 1878.
Warion was born in
French-Prussian War of 1870, in particular dealing with the wounded from the battles at Gravelotte and Borni. In 1871 he returned to Algeria and resumed his plant collecting. Plants Warion collected for science for the first time include Mentha cervina, Trisetum vallesiacum, Linaria heterophylla and Cuscuta corymbosa.[1] He also collected on the Canary Islands and in France.[2]
Warion became a member of the
Warionia saharae, Astragalus peregrinus subsp. warionis, Avellinia warionis (= Avellinia michelii) and Linaria warionis.[2]
