Balaton is a city in

History

Balaton was platted in 1879 by the railroad.^[5] It was named after Lake Balaton, in Hungary.^[5] A post office has been in operation at Balaton since 1879.^[6] Balaton was incorporated in 1892.^[7]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.58 square miles (4.09 km²), of which 1.45 square miles (3.76 km²) is land and 0.13 square miles (0.34 km²) is water.^[8]
