Barry Edward Traynor (born 9 December 1946[citation needed]) is an Australian former politician and police officer.
Early life
He was born in Ararat and attended Ararat High School.[citation needed]
Career
He began working as a bank teller in 1965.[citation needed] From 1966-1992, he worked in the Police Force. He was awarded the National Medal, Diligent and Ethical Service Medal and the Police Service Good Conduct Medal. [citation needed]
He joined the
He was awarded four Chief Commissioner's commendations for investigation of crime and multiple arrests.[citation needed]
His police education and training includes an Advanced Diploma of Police Investigation, Graduate Certificate in Management, Advanced Diploma of Police Management, Diploma of Security and Risk Management, Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management and a Certificate IV in Investigative Services.[citation needed]
He was awarded a Parliamentary Study Tour visiting the UK, Canada and Jersey Channel Islands meeting with law enforcement departments discussing crime and drugs.[citation needed]
In 1995. he was part of a delegation to the Republic of Pakistan.[citation needed]
He earned a Certificate in Industrial Relations and Legislation, a Certificate of Qualification Disaster Management, Centre of Disaster Management University of New England concepts, models and principle of disasters with a pass at Associate Diploma Level.[citation needed]
He was chair of the Police and Emergency Services Bills Committee and also a member of the Drugs and Crime Prevention Turning the Tide Committee 1997 Interim Report.[citation needed]
Post political career
In retirement, he volunteered for McCallum Disability Services in Ballarat and worked with the City of Ballarat graffiti removal programs. He later became a Police Veterans Peer Support Officer aiding retired police suffering from PTS, depression, alcoholism, anxiety, and associated problems.[citation needed]
