Geography
Belmont occupies the northwest corner of Lafayette County and is bordered to the north by Iowa County and to the west by Grant County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 41.0 square miles (106.3 km2), of which 0.1 square miles (0.3 km2), or 0.25%, are water.[1]
Demographics

of any race.There were 249 households, out of which 39.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were married couples living together, 10.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.9% were non-families. 19.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 4.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.11.
In the town, the population was spread out, with 29.9% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females, there were 106.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 111.6 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $39,196, and the median income for a family was $40,000. Males had a median income of $28,750 versus $21,339 for females. The
