Reception

Critical reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 46% of 13 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.7/10.[9]

Deepa Gahlot from Rediff.com awarded the film 3/5 stars and wrote "Bhakshak should create some awareness and maybe raise some compassion towards victims of abuse."[10] Bollywood Hungama gave the film 3.5/5 stars and wrote "Bhakshak is a no-nonsense gripping investigative thriller and rests on the powerful performances of Bhumi Pednekar, Sanjay Mishra and Aditya Srivastava. It also gives a nice tribute to the small-town journalists who often risk their lives while trying to break stories that matter."[11]

Pooja Darade from Koimoi rated the film a good 3.5/5 stars and said "Bhakshak has a feminist tone to it without once being loud about the same". She went on to say "The film serves as a reminder of what power the right kind of journalism holds and how we’re in ruins because that’s completely missing today".[12]
