Buffy Chen Yan-fei (Chinese: 陳姸霏; born 9 August 2000) is a Taiwanese actress best known for her debut role in the film The Silent Forest. She won Best New Performer in the 57th Golden Horse Awards and Best New Talent in the 23rd Taipei Film Awards.

Biography

Chen was born on August 9, 2000, in Taiwan.[1] She had her secondary education in Hwa Kang Arts School and became interested in acting after taking drama lessons.[1][2] She landed her first acting role when she was in junior high school.[2] Chen later attended Chinese Culture University, majoring in advertising design, but she suspended her studies in 2020 to pursue a career in acting.[1][3]

In 2020, Chen auditioned and won her breakout role as Yao Bei Bei, a deaf teenage girl who was sexually assaulted by her classmates, in the featured film

Wave Makers, starring alongside Hsieh Ying-xuan, Jag Huang, Gingle Wang and Leon Dai,[8] and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the Asia Contents Awards & Global OTT Awards.[9]
