History

Chesterville was laid out in 1829, and named after Chester Township.[4] A post office was established at Chesterville in 1832.[5]

Geography

Chesterville is considered to be a part of "Central Ohio".

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.22 square miles (0.57 km2), of which, 0.21 square miles (0.54 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.[6]

The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.98.

The median age in the village was 40.5 years. 25.4% of residents were under the age of 18; 5.3% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.7% were from 25 to 44; 25.5% were from 45 to 64; and 20.2% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 45.6% male and 54.4% female.

In the village, the population was spread out, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 29.0% from 25 to 44, 14.0% from 45 to 64, and 26.4% who were 65 years of age or older.
