Nickname(s)CRW, Wombats. The A grade side was often called 'cats', which in rhyming slang became wombats. An early A grader was said to have stolen a wombat from Taronga Zoo. After some years the Wombat was officially adopted and the club colours changed to green and white

Founded1953 The club stopped operating and in the mid 1960s principals at Souths Juniors like Ron Ellison asked Pat Hennessy, Syd Payne and others to reform the club because they were concerned about the strength of Rugby Union in the area. The club shared Coogee Oval with Randwick Rugby Union, who trained on Tuesday and Thursdays and the Wombats on Wednesday and Friday.

The Coogee Randwick Wombats are an Australian rugby league football team based in Coogee, New South Wales and Randwick, New South Wales a suburb of south-central Sydney and play in the South Sydney District Junior Rugby Football League.[1]
