Dai Yi

Dai Yi (Chinese: 戴逸; pinyin: Dài Yì; September 1926 – 24 January 2024) was a Chinese historian who primarily focused on the history of the Qing dynasty. He was a professor at Renmin University of China. He was also the honorary director of the university's Qing dynasty's history institute as well as a doctoral student supervisor. He was a member of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).[1]

Biography

Dai Yi was originally called Dai Bingheng (

Nationalists. Additionally, with the help of the CCP, he escaped to Hua Bei University (the predecessor of Renmin University of China). After graduation, he stayed in his university for his teaching career.[3][4]

As of April 2020, Dai Yi was directing the effort to complete the History of Qing, a comprehensive compilation of the history of the Qing dynasty.[5]

Dai died on 24 January 2024, at the age of 97.[6]
