. Del Norte High School also became sister schools with another school in Rikuzentakata-shi, Iwate, Japan. Del Norte High School obtained an art club and cosplay club in 2018 of the new school year. Del Norte High takes turns with Takata high school each year of traveling their students to Japan one year and Takata's students the next year.

As of 2013, it was one of five schools in California offering classes in the Yurok language.[4] Tolowa language classes have been taught "for many years."[5]
