Blakeway made a video, 'The Plot to Topple a King', about the abdication of Edward VIII in which he attributes the abdication to the machinations of the Archbishop of Centerbury, Kosmo Lang. Nowhere in his 47 minute defense of Edward VIII does he mention that Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson were enthusiastic Nazis. Nor does he mention that British Intelligence discovered their intercourse with the then Nazi ambassador to Britain, Joachim von Ribbentrop. Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin learned of it and maneuvered Edward VIII into resigning to save Britain the trauma of knowing their king was a traitor. This is according to the thoroughly researched BBC television series, 'The Crown', about the life of Elizabeth II. Why Denys Blakeway made a full-length attempt to whitewash Edward VIII remains inexplicable. [14]
Denys Blakeway is the author of The Last Dance,[15] an account of the turbulent year of 1936,The Falklands War[16] and Fields of Thunder-Testing Britain's Bomb[17].
Blakeway has also written and presented numerous programmes for BBC Radio 4 including the
