Augustus Oku (born June 7, 1999) is a Nigerian Canadian soccer player who plays for SV Dessau 05.
Club Career
In 2022, Oku signed for expansion side Burlington SC in League 1 Ontario. Oku played all 21 games for Burlington and scored a team high 14 goals,[1] including a hat trick against Electric City FC in a thrilling 3-3 game.[2] Oku's impressive debut League 1 season saw him finish 7th in scoring and earned him a third team all star spot.[3]
In 2023, Oku resigned with Burlington and was announced with former League 1 Ontario MVP, Jace Kotsopoulos, as the premier signings for the season.[4] Oku appeared in 17 regular season games for Burlington scoring a team high 13 goals along the way.[5] Under the guidance of coach Darren Tilley, Burlington finished in 5th in the league qualifying for the playoffs.[6] Oku was nominated for the forward of the year award[7], and named in the Men's Premier Division Second XI.[8]
In February 2024, Oku signed for Verbandesliga Sachsen Anhalt side SV Dessau 05 for the remainder of their season.[9]
University Career
Oku attended Laurentian University playing for the men's soccer team for 2 years.[10] Oku's best season came in 2019 where he led his team with 5 goals and an assist[11] This proved enough to earn a spot on the OUA All-star team.[12]
