Catherine (Kate) M. Gilliver is an English military historian, specialising in 200BC to 250AD Roman military. She is a professor at Cardiff University.[1]
Early life and education
She was born in Dorchester, England and pursued a degree in Classics and Classical Archaeology at King's College London in 1984. She continued to her PhD at University College London in 1988, writing her thesis on The Roman Art of War: theory and practice.[1][2]
Career
She is a professor at Cardiff University and teaches a variety of honours modules covering the Roman Army as well as being a dissertation supervisor.[1] Alongside her teaching, she is also the Academic Partner for Assessment and Feedback for her university and is leading the Rethinking Assessment project.[1]
