James Jamieson is a British politician. He is a councillor on Central Bedfordshire Council and a former leader of the council.

He is the former chairman of the Local Government Association. In February 2024, it was announced Jamieson would be appointed to the House of Lords by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as a Conservative Party peer.^[1]^[2]

Jamieson was elected to Central Bedfordshire Council in 2009, representing the Flitwick ward. He presently represents the Westoning ward.^[3]

He served as a Chair of Scrutiny on the council.

2011 local elections. He stood down as leader in January 2021.^[4] In July 2018 he was elected leader of the Conservative Group of the Local Government Association and was elected the chairman of the Local Government Association in July 2019.^[3]

Jamieson is a member of the Commission on Rough Sleeping.[3]

Jamieson studied at the University of Sheffield and is a qualified engineer.^[3] He worked in business and banking before establishing his own consultancy.^[3]
