Julian Kim better known as Kim Joo-taek, (Korean: 김주택), born on September 9, 1986, is a South Korean baritone opera singer, crossover artist, and musical theater performer.

Education

Kim attained his bachelor's and master's degrees from The Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan, Italy, graduating as the top student with unanimous approval from the professors.

Career

Kim's debut took place in 2009 at the Teatro Regio in Parma, Italy, where he performed as Figaro in "The Barber of Seville." He has since portrayed leading roles in various renowned operas, including "La Traviata," "The Marriage of Figaro," "Madame Butterfly," "Cavalleria Rusticana," "Cosi fan tutte," "The Barber of Seville," "Simon Boccanegra," "Pagliacci," "Lucia di Lammermoor," "La Bohème," "Giovanna d'Arco" and "Rigoletto" across multiple theaters in Italy.[1][2]

Apart from his stage performances, Kim actively collaborates with orchestras and partakes in concert engagements, demonstrating his skill and adaptability within the opera and classical music sphere.

Additionally, Kim serves as the baritone vocalist in the male vocal quartet crossover group Miraclass, where he also holds the position of the group's leader.

In 2023, Kim portrayed the role of the Phantom in the production of "The Phantom of the Opera.“[3]

The pronunciation of his name 'Jootaek' is the same as that of 'house' in Korean. Therefore, fans play around with his name in Korean, creating variations like 'classical house', 'single house', 'green house', and so on. His fanbase is named 'House Complex', a name chosen by Kim himself.[4]
