The Korbschläger ("Basket-Hitter") is a basket-hilted sword and one of two weapons used in German Academic Fencing, the other being the Glockenschläger. The Korbschläger developed in 1767 as a modification of the Göttinger Hieber. It is composed of two parts - the blade and the guard. There are three different types of Korbschläger each with their own applications:
- The Sparring Schläger (Paukschläger), with a blunt blade used for practice.
- The Parade Schläger (Paradeschläger), also with a blunt blade but with a coloured guard featuring the Couleur of it's user's Fraternity.
- The Fencing Schläger (Mensurschläger) featuring a sharp blade and a a coloured guard featuring the Couleur of it's user's Fraternity.
