Mary Chilvers is a Canadian Curler, four-time Ontario Provincial Champion, and co-host of the popular 2 Girls and a Game curling podcast.

Curling Career

Chilvers has played competitively since the 1990s, where she made two appearances at the Scott Tournaments of Hearts (as Mary Bowman).[1], first in 1995[2] playing lead for Alison Goring (where they finished 5th with a 7-4 record).[3], and then returning two years later in 1997, playing lead again for Alison Goring[4]. In 1997, Chilvers and her teammates would make it all the way to the final, losing to Sandra Schmirler and her Saskatchewan squad[5]

Chilvers and her teammates would also compete in the 1997 Olympic Trials, finishing with a 3-6 record[6].

Chilvers continued to play competitively over the following decades[7][8], finding renewed success at the Senior Level. In 2022, she would reunite with her 1997 teammate Lori Eddy, playing lead for JoAnn Rizzo. Their team would win the Ontario Senior Championship[9], and had a strong performance at the 2022 Canadian Seniors in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, qualifying for the playoffs and ultimately losing the Bronze medal match to finish in 4th place for the week[10][11].

Chilvers also began player at the Masters level, finding success in 2023 as the fourth rock thrower for her former skip Alison Goring. They won the 2023 Ontario Provincial championship, and will represent the province at the 2024 Canadian Championships[12]

Other Curling-Related Activities

Chilvers and her teammate and close friend Lori Eddy have shared their passion for the sport of curling with fans for the past 9 years, as cohosts of the popular 2 Girls and a Game podcast[13]. Chilvers and Eddy share their insights about the sport, with a lot of heart and humour as well[14] The podcast has been well received by fans[15], and is featured on Sports Illustrated as well[16][17]

The podcast has helped Chilvers and Eddy gain even greater recognition in the curling world. In 2019, both Mary and Eddy were selected to serve on TSN's "Greatest Curlers Panel".[18] Then, in 2020, CAA selected Chilvers and Eddy to lead their Winter Joy road trip promotion. [19][20][21] Later, in 2022, Chilvers and Eddy were selected to be featured in the 2023 Curling Cares Fundraising Calendar.[22][23]

Chilvers is also an avid curling commentator, lending her experience and insights to numerous Ontario curling championships.[24][25]
