Edward Charlton (British Army officer)

C. E. C. G. Charlton

DL (25 August 1871 โ€“ 26 June 1961) was a British Army officer and Deputy Lieutenant for Essex.[1]

Life and career

Charlton was the son of Lieutenant Colonel Richard Granville Charlton. He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich.[1]

He served in the

Tirah Campaign of 1897-98 and in the Sudan
in 1902.

In 1906, he married Gwendoline, daughter of Arthur Whitaker of Cadogan Square, London.

During his career he served with the

British Embassy in Washington D.C.
from 1923 to 1927.

From 1928, he lived at

Deputy Lieutenant for Essex and High Sheriff of that county for 1947โ€“48.[1][2]
