Demographics

Based on the 2007 Census conducted by the CSA, this woreda has a total population of 49,171, of whom 22,854 are men and 26,317 women; 766 or 1.56% of its population are urban dwellers. The majority of the inhabitants practiced

Ethiopian Orthodox Christianity, with 75.26% of the population reporting that belief, while 21.86% were reported as Muslim, and 2.85% were Protestants.[1]
