History

Fairbanks Morse Defense, a portfolio company of Arcline Investment Management, was established following the acquisition of Fairbanks Morse Engine from EnPro Industries on January 21, 2020.[1][2]

For nearly a century before, Fairbanks Morse Defense has been a principal supplier of a growing array of leading marine technologies, OEM parts, and turnkey services to the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, Military Sealift Command, and Canadian Coast Guard. In 2021, the company acquired Ward Leonard,[7] Welin Lambie,[8]  and Hunt Valve,[9] thus creating the Fairbanks Morse Defense family of brands. The expansion continued in 2022 with the addition of Federal Equipment Company,[10] Maxim Watermakers,[11] and Research Tool and Die (RT&D).[12]

In October, Fairbanks Morse Defense acquired American Fan,[13] and in 2024, the company purchased Massachusetts-based metalworking supplier Samtan Engineering Corporation.[14]
