Ce tableau avec celui de Charles Rennie Mackintosh intitulé "The Wassail" a été exposé à Vienne en novembre 1900 dans le pavillon de la Secession. Il a très vraisemblablement influencé Gustav Klimt lorsqu'il a peint sa frise "Beethoven".
