Summary

Description
English: An angular size comparison of how Proxima will appear in the sky seen from Proxima b, compared to how the Sun appears in our sky on Earth. Proxima is much smaller than the Sun, but Proxima b lies very close to its star. Also, when viewed from a planet’s surface with atmospheric conditions similar to Earth’s surface, the star will appear considerably paler than the Sun: Proxima has a surface temperature of 3040 K, hotter than light bulbs (2300–2900 K), thus its light is white. As Proxima’s light has relatively less short-wave (blue) components, the blue sky appears darker, and therefore the white balancing in a human eye would shift the perception of the star disk less intensively towards a “golden sun”.
