English: Predicted proportion of asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection by age. The size of each circle is proportional to the total number of SARS-CoV-2 positive persons reported in each age group in individual studies, with larger circles indicating a larger sample size.
About 44% of those infected with SARS-CoV-2 remained asymptomatic throughout the infection. The apparent discrepancy with the mean prediction over all ages is due to weighting observations by reliability in specific age ranges. |
