English: Additional text: Extract from the Gazette acc.t At the Instant of reconnoitering the Enemy a heavy Squall from the N.W. carried away the Amelias Main Topmast and fore and Mizen top Gallant masts. The Enemy seeing her crippled state we re encouraged to come out and make the Attack aided by a Battery on the Island, when after an Engagement of an hour and fifty minutes the / Enemy bore up for the Loire much shatter'd, the disabled State of the Amelia rendering it impossible to pursue them.

A view of the action between the British ships St Fiorenzo and Amelia, commanded by Captains Sir H.B. Neale and Herbert, and three French frigates and a gun vessel off Belle-Île, 9 April 1799. French Revolutionary Wars (1792-1802).

The engraving of the upper-case letters and some other letters is in outline, and the text in the title is faintly engraved, suggesting that this may be a proof impression.
