| Description |
Nederlands: Negatief. Goud- en zilversmeden vond men vaak op plaatsen waar zich een vorstelijk hof bevond of bevonden had. Dat is ook een logische ontwikkeling. Alleen vorstelijke hoven en hun entourage waren in staat zoveel vraag te genereren dat daarmee een bedrijfstak als die van goud- en zilversmeden in stand kon worden gehouden. Nu had Atjeh niet alleen eeuwenlang zijn eigen sultanshof gehad, maar ook zijn eigen goudmijnen. Daardoor was de vraag naar het eindproduct en aanbod van de grondstof gegarandeerd. De goudsmid in het midden op de foto zou een Klingalees (orang Keling) kunnen zijn, destijds de gangbare term voor iemand uit Zuid-India. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
