Scora & Oliva/Raulin Quintet - Dubbel filmconcert: Aelita (Iakov Protazanov 1924) & Little Nemo (Winsor McCay 1908-1913) Nederlands: Tussen de synesthesie van de zintuigen en de grammatica van de fantasie ligt een onbetreden en ontoegankelijk domein. Een virtuele ruimte waarin beeld en klank elkaar vinden. Een fantasmagorische ruimte, analoog aan Lacans imaginaire, symbolisch en reële orde. Tim Burtons versie van Lewis Carrolls 'Alice in Wonderland' is zo'n ruimte. Of Winsor McCay's 'Little Nemo in Slumberland'. Met als uitgangspunt de surrealistische avonturen van Nemo die in zijn witte hansopje angstaanjagende ruimtes doorkruist en aan het einde steevast wakker schrikt nadat hij uit zijn bed is gevallen. Zo is er ook de Russische stille film 'Aelita' van Yakov Protazanov die het leven verhaalt van ingenieur Losj. Omdat hij het Moskou anno 1920 niet meer aankan, ontsnapt hij met een zelfgemaakte raket naar Mars, vergezeld door een detective en een soldaat van het Rode Leger. McCay en Protazanov hebben elk op hun manier alle conventies overboord gegooid wat beeld betreft. Hetzelfde doen Oliva, Raulin en Baeken met de muziek. Een intrigerende symbiose. Français : Entre la synesthésie, associant les sens, et la grammaire de l'imaginaire s'étend un domaine inexploré et inaccessible. Un espace virtuel où se rencontrent l'image et le son. Un espace fantasmagorique, rappelant la distinction faite par Lacan entre trois registres : imaginaire, symbolique et réel. L'univers où se déroule la version proposée par Tim Burton d' Alice aux Pays de merveilles ' est un tel espace, tout comme celui de ' Little Nemo in Slumberland '. Cette BD raconte les aventures surréalistes du petit Nemo qui, habillé de son pyjama combinaison, traverse des espaces effrayants et se réveille en sursaut à la fin de chaque cauchemar, souvent en bas de son lit. Le film muet russe ' Aelita ' de Yakov Protazanov raconte la vie de l'ingénieur Los. En 1920, incapable de supporter plus longtemps son existence à Moscou, il construit un engin spatial et s'enfuit sur la planète Mars, en compagnie d'un détective privé et d'un soldat de l'Armée rouge. McCay et Protazanov ont tous deux, chacun à sa manière, bravé les conventions picturales. Oliva, Raulin et Baeken font la même chose pour la musique. A phantasmagorical space, analogous to Lacan's imaginary, symbolic and real order, and one that is exemplified by Tim Burton's version of Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland', or Winsor McCay's 'Little Nemo in Slumberland', whose basis is the surrealistic adventures of Nemo who, in his white sleeping-suit, traverses terrifying areas of space and ends by being jolted awake after falling out of bed. Similarly, there is the Russian silent film 'Aelita' by Yakov Protazanov, which tells the story of the engineer Losj. Because he can no longer cope with the Moscow of around 1920, he escapes to Mars in a rocket he has made himself, accompanied by a detective and a soldier from the Red Army. Each in his own way, McCay and Protazanov have thrown all visual conventions overboard. Oliva, Raulin and Baeken do likewise with the music. An intriguing symbiosis. |
