Tronthaim - Daniel Dorsch - Sascha Moser - Berlin, die Sinfonie der Grossstadt Nederlands: Het elektronische muziekduo Tronthaim kiest voor het Berlijn van het midden van de 'vrolijke' jaren twintig, het bruisende centrum van de culturele avant-garde. Allerlei kunstenaars experimenteerden met het nieuwe medium film. 'Berlin, Die Sinfonie der Großstadt' van Walter Ruttmann is een absoluut meesterwerk uit die periode. Net als tijdgenoot Fritz Lang (oa. 'Metropolis') was Ruttmann gefascineerd door de grootstad als symbool van industrie en vooruitgang. Hij filmde van 's ochtends tot 's avonds in de straten van Berlijn. Met als resultaat een visuele symfonie. Die behandelt sociale thema's als de tegenstelling tussen rijk en arm, maar eigenlijk gaat de film over het levensritme van de metropool. Français : Le duo de musique électronique Tronthaim fait revivre le Berlin du milieu des ' folles ' années 1920, en pleine effervescence de l'avant-garde culturelle. Nombre d'artistes y expérimentaient avec un nouveau média, le cinéma. ' Berlin, Die Sinfonie der Großstadt ' de Walter Ruttmann est un chef-d'œuvre absolu de l'époque. Tout comme son contemporain Fritz Lang (auteur, entre autres, de ' Metropolis '), Ruttmann était fasciné par la grande ville en tant que symbole de l'industrie et du progrès. Tournant du matin au soir dans les rues de Berlin, il réalisa une véritable symphonie visuelle. Même si le film traite de thématiques telles que les contrastes entre riches et pauvres, son sujet principal est le rythme vital de la métropole. English: The electronic music duo Tronthaim evokes Berlin in the middle of 'roaring' twenties, when it was the vibrant centre of the cultural avant-garde. All kinds of artists were experimenting with the new medium of film. Walter Ruttmann's 'Berlin, Die Sinfonie der Großstadt' is an absolute masterpiece from this period. Just like his contemporary, Fritz Lang ('Metropolis' etc.), Ruttmann was fascinated by the big city as a symbol of industry and progress. He would film in the streets of Berlin from morning till night. The result was a visual symphony. The film tackles social themes such as the contrast between rich and poor, but it is really about the rhythm of life in the metropolis. |
