Early life
He was born to
He always wanted to be a social worker, and work for poor and needy people, farmers. Assisting his father in politics since his school days, he was involved in election campaigns since 1994 and accompanied his father during the previous assembly elections and two Lok Sabha polls.

In his second election, in May 2018, Hukkeri defeated Annasaheb Jolle who had lost the election twice against the elder Hukkeri. Hukkeri was appointed Chief Whip of the Government of Karnataka, a cabinet minister rank.
In the 2023 Karnataka Legislative Election Hukkeri won for the third time defeating Ex.MP and DCC Bank Chairman Ramesh Vishwanath Katti by record breaking margin of 78500 votes . Hukkeri scored No2 in Karnataka State by highest margin victory after DK Shivakumar
