Hamlin is a city in Brown County, Kansas, United States.[1] As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 25.[3]

History

Hamlin was laid out in 1870.[4][5] It was named in honor of Hannibal Hamlin, Abraham Lincoln's vice-president.[6][7]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.09 square miles (0.23 km2), all of it land.[8]

Of the 9 households, 22.2% had children under the age of 18; 44.4% were married couples living together; 11.1% had a female householder with no spouse or partner present. 22.2% of households consisted of individuals and 11.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.[10] The average household size was 3.5 and the average family size was 3.5.[14]

32.0% of the population was under the age of 18, 4.0% from 18 to 24, 20.0% from 25 to 44, 32.0% from 45 to 64, and 12.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38.5 years. For every 100 females, there were 78.6 males.[10] For every 100 females ages 18 and older, there were 88.9 males.[10]
