Hollister is located at 42°21′8″N 114°34′50″W / 42.35222°N 114.58056°W / 42.35222; -114.58056 (42.352174, -114.580443),^[4] on the east bank of Salmon Falls Creek.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.07 square miles (2.77 km²), all of it land.^[5]

Hollister Elementary School accommodates students ages K-5. After fifth grade, local students attend school in Filer.^{[citation needed]}
