As of 2017[update], Moyes retired as CEO of Swift, becoming CEO emeritus and retaining a seat on the board of directors.[2]
Moyes and his wife Vickie have been married for over 50 years and have 10 children and 10 grandchildren.

Moyes was a minority partner in Steve Ellman's ownership group, which bought the Coyotes from Richard Burke in 2001. On Sept. 26, 2006, Ellman sold controlling interest in the Coyotes,
