. He was vice president of the Parliament's Constitutional Affairs Committee.

From 1982 to 1987, he was member of the city council in

National Council of Austria (Nationalrat).[2] From 1995 to 2009 he was Member of the European Parliament.[1]

He is married and has two children.[3]
