Kicking Horse is located in south-central Lake County at 47°27′43″N 114°5′4″W / 47.46194°N 114.08444°W (47.461892, -114.084475).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the Kicking Horse CDP has a total area of 3.6 square miles (9.2 km2), of which 2.4 square miles (6.3 km2) are land and 1.2 square miles (3.0 km2), or 32.06%, are water.[5]

The average household size was 2.96 and the average family size was 3.32.
In the CDP, the population was spread out, with 33.8% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 35.0% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 2.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 29 years. For every 100 females, there were 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 112.0 males.
