Hott is a co-founding partner of Florentine Films, joining Ken Burns, Roger Sherman and Buddy Squires in documentary production in 1978.[1][2] He has produced and directed documentary films for PBS, the Library of American Landscape History, the American Antiquarian Society and others. He has twice been nominated for an Academy Award,[3] received a

University Without Walls program of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.[4]

Hott is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.[5] Hott has been a Fulbright Program Fellow in both Vietnam and Great Britain.[6]
