Luya River (Chinese: 鹿野溪), located in southeastern Taiwan,[1] is a tributary of the Beinan River.[2] Its watershed is distributed in the central and western parts of Taitung County,[3] including most of Yanping Township,[4] the northern end of Beinan Township,[5] the southern end of Luye Township,[6] and the southwestern end of Haiduan Township.[7] The main stream originates from the southeast side of the main peak of Beinan Mountain at an elevation of 3,293 meters.[8] It flows southeastward, then turns eastward near Fengshan, passes through Qingshui,[9] Hongye,[10] and Yanping,[11] and finally joins the Beinan River near Rongshan.[12]
