Magueyes is a rural barrio in the municipality of Corozal, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 363.[3][4][5]

History

Magueyes was in Spain's

Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Magueyes barrio was 849.[7]

Features and demographics

Magueyes has 1.97 square miles (5.1 km2) of land area and no water area. In 2010, its population was 363 with a population density of 184.3 inhabitants per square mile (71.2/km2).

PR-568 is the main north-south road through Magueyes.[13]

Sectors

Barrios (which are, in contemporary times, roughly comparable to

minor civil divisions)[14] in turn are further subdivided into smaller local populated place areas/units called sectores (sectors in English). The types of sectores may vary, from normally sector to urbanización to reparto to barriada to residencial, among others.[15][16][17]

Sector Capilla, Sector Escuela, Sector Grego Meléndez, Sector Lechería, Sector Los Carros, and Sector Los González.
