Geography

The township is in the northeastern corner of Erie County and is adjacent to the New York state line. Lake Erie borders the northern edge of the township. The township surrounds the borough of North East, a separate municipality. According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 42.4 square miles (109.8 km²), of which 42.2 square miles (109.2 km²) is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 km²), or 0.56%, is water.^[3]

North East Township contains Pennsylvania's northernmost point.

The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the township the population was spread out, with 23.7% under the age of 18, 19.4% from 18 to 24, 23.8% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 102.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.4 males.

The median income for a household in the township was $42,696, and the median income for a family was $51,056. Males had a median income of $37,773 versus $25,707 for females. The
