Geography
Philadelphia is in western Marion County, 12 miles (19 km) west of Palmyra, the county seat, 16 miles (26 km) north of Monroe City, 18 miles (29 km) east of Shelbyville, and 13 miles (21 km) south of Ewing. Hannibal, the largest city in Marion County, is 25 miles (40 km) to the southeast on the Mississippi River.
According to the
South Fabius River and south to a tributary of the North River
. Both rivers flow east to the Mississippi.
