I Can See Your Voice franchise |
Show Me Your Voice is a French television mystery music game show based on the South Korean programme I Can See Your Voice. It premiered on M6 as a two-night pilot episode on 22 April and 13 May 2021.[1][2]
Gameplay
Format
Presented with a group of nine "mystery singers" identified only by their occupation, a guest artist and a group of two contestants must attempt to eliminate bad singers from the group without ever hearing them sing, assisted by clues and a celebrity panel over the course of five rounds. At the end of the game, the last remaining mystery singer is revealed as either good or bad by means of a duet between them and one of the guest artists.[3]
Rewards
If the singer is good, the contestants win €20,000; if the singer is bad, the same amount is given to the bad singer instead.
Rounds
Each episode presents the guest artist and contestants with nine people whose identities and singing voices are kept concealed until they are eliminated to perform on the "stage of truth" or remain in the end to perform the final duet.
- Lip sync (French: Le playback)
The mystery singers are divided into three groups of three, and participate in a lip sync performance to one song each. - Exhibition (French: Les pièces à conviction)
The guest artist and contestants are presented with a video package in which one of the mystery singers of their choice discusses their life and musical qualifications. - Performance (French: La performance)
The guest artist and contestants must describe one of the mystery singer's other talents, except "singing" itself. This may not be related to the "stage of truth", but depends on their identity. - Concealed voice (French: Cachez la voix)
The mystery singer lip syncs to the good singer's recording, then a bad singer's recording comes in the middle of the performance. - Interrogation (French: L'interview)
The guest artist and contestants may ask questions to the remaining mystery singers. Good singers are required to give truthful responses, while the bad singers must lie.
Background
Production and development
Shine Group has initially made interest to produce a local adaptation of I Can See Your Voice in France, as per earlier report from Toute la Télé in September 2015.[4] After a six-year hiatus, Groupe M6 would formally acquire the rights in February 2021,[5] including with production duties assigned by Warner Bros. International Television Production.[6]
Filming
Filming of the show took place at Studio 128 in Saint-Denis, Paris.[7] During the COVID-19 pandemic, it was made under implementing health and safety protocols.[8]
