Delinking deleted geography articles

Hi, I noticed that when you closed a couple of Arizona geography AfDs, you delinked them from lists instead of deleting the entry entirely. For example this left Matthie, AZ listed as a "populated place" with no sourcing to support it, even though it's actually a railroad junction and should not be in the list at all. I'm hoping you could remove these at the time of deletion as they're quite consuming to track down after the fact. Thanks, –dlthewave 18:48, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Dlthewave: Hi, thanks for the note. I'll keep that in mind for the future. plicit 23:30, 4 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

File:Frank Nelson.jpeg

Hi Explicit. I hope you're doing well. Would you mind taking a look at File:Frank Nelson.jpeg? I'm asking you about it because you're also an admin on Commons and File:Frank Nelsononjackbenny.jpg predates the upload of this non-free by more than ten years. The Commons file was previously being used in the main infobox of Frank Nelson (actor) until the non-free was uploaded. Normally, this would be a no-brainer F7 violation, but I'm a little concerned about licensing of the Commons file since it seems to be a screencapture from a 1950's TV show that is claimed to be PD, but I'm not sure how to check that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:57, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: Hi, the file description states that this is a screenshot from an episode of The Jack Benny Program. According to the Syndication section, the episodes aired prior to 1961 are in the public domain. The caption for File:Frank Nelsononjackbenny.jpg in the Frank Nelson (actor) article claims to be from 1954. If all of this information is accurate, this particular file should be okay. File:Frank Nelson.jpeg would then be eligible for deletion for F7 if that is the case. plicit 07:44, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for checking on this. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:45, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

1278 and 1530 AM West Yorkshire

Hi,

I see that you have deleted this article. I was not aware that it was the subject of an AfD.

If there had been a AfD I would have voted for it to have been merged with Pulse 2 because as you rightly say it was a temporary fill-in station. However I would have copied and pasted the article's content with a view to potentially incorporating some of its content into the Pulse 2 article.

I am not sure if a deleted article is fully wiped from the Wikipedia server. If not, I would be grateful if you could send me the article's content so that any relevant bits can be incorporated into the Pulse 2 article. Rillington (talk) 21:54, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@
1278 and 1530 AM West Yorkshire was deleted by PROD, not AFD. I have restored the article based on your comment here. You are free to merge any relevant content into Pulse 2 and then redirect the restored page there. plicit 23:44, 7 April 2023 (UTC)[reply

Hi, and thank you for your reply. I'm not sure what PROD means but I would imagine that your thinking was that the article would not pass the notability test and it only has one reference and that it would fail any AfD discussion and even as someone who is opposed to article deletion, the best I would be able to do is advocate for its merger with Pulse 2. Thank you for restoring it. This means that I can copy and paste the contents into my Sandbox so if it was to be deleted the important points would not be lost to Wikipedia. Thank you for explaining what
PROD means. The article has now been nominated for deletion and given that it will never meet notability guidelines, to me the solution is to merge it with Pulse 2 so that the relevant information can be retained, and I have voted for this merge to take place. File:Economic Freedom Party (Israel) logo.svg

Hi Explicit. Do you think File:Economic Freedom Party (Israel) logo.svg needs to be non-free? It seems to be nothing more than text and what looks like a branch. c:COM:TOO Israel seems to indicate that Israel's TOO is closer to the US's than the UK's; so, I'm wondering if this would be OK for Commons if it's PD in the US. If it needs to remain non-free then I'm not seeing any justification for its non-free use in Abir Kara.

The same thing pretty much also could be said about File:Pascal Pictures logo.svg, except that the country of first publication seems to be the US. -- Marchjuly (talk) 22:49, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: Hi, I would say that File:Pascal Pictures logo.svg is unarguably PD-logo. I'm not so sure about File:Economic Freedom Party (Israel) logo.svg, as I wouldn't classify the design at the bottom as a simple geometric shape. plicit 23:39, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking a look at these. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:14, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm wondering about the source given for the Pascal Pictures logo. It's for a fandom site, but I'm not sure how current or accurate it is. I can't seem to find an official website for the company, but I did find an Instagram account which shows a slightly different and bit more complex logo. There also appear to be different versions of the logo used for different films. So, I'm not sure whether there's any point in converting the file's licensing to "PD-logo" and tagging it for a move to Commons if there's no way to verify it's accurate. Any thoughts on this? -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:58, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. I've gone ahead and coverted the Pascal logo to "PD-logo" and prodded the ERP for deletion. Do you think you could restore the original uploaded version of the Pascal logo since there's no need for it to be reduced if it's the same as the current logo? -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:43, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Marchjuly:  Done, revision restored. plicit 05:04, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Image source

Hi Explicit, I have noticed that in my absence an image that I had uploaded was deleted with the justification that it lacked a source, but how is that possible if even in my original upload, File:Somaliprince.png was created with a clear verifiable source attached [1]. Is it possible to recover the edit history of that image to see if any bad faith editing caused the removal of the image’s source and subsequent deletion? Thanks. GoldenDragonHorn (talk) 18:19, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@GoldenDragonHorn: Hi, the file has been restored. plicit 23:39, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, was it an innocent bot error or a more sinister case of vandalism? --GoldenDragonHorn (talk) 02:05, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

De-PRODding orphaned files

By dePRODding orphaned files, you're (shortly) extending the deadline for orphaned files. Or, wasn't that your intention? George Ho (talk) 16:25, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@George Ho: Huh, I hadn't noticed. plicit 23:29, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This one, for example? George Ho (talk) 23:51, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@George Ho: Okay. What exactly is the issue? Impatience? plicit 23:54, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The PROD tag had an early expiration date, while the orphaned tag had a later one. Why remove the PROD tag? George Ho (talk) 02:35, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@George Ho: Please refer back to my original response. plicit 03:40, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted article

Hi Explicit. We tried to publish our first article yesterday on the historian Benjamin T. Jones. We are new to the process but can see it has been deleted. We were hoping for some feedback on why it was deleted and if there is a way to resubmit it as Australian historians and especially historians from the regions are underrepresented. The issue of a republic is being hotly debated so the article seemed to be in the public interest. Looking forward to your feedback. Rockhampton History Group. RockyHistory (talk) 04:42, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@RockyHistory: Hi, I believe you're referring to Draft:Benjamin T. Jones. This draft was deleted by Jimfbleak as unambiguous advertising or promotion. You will need to discuss the issue with that administrator. plicit 04:49, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Images moved to Commons

Hey Explicit, I saw you moved a bunch of images I had uploaded to en.wiki over to Commons - most of them are probably fine to go over, but there's a batch all from the same source that I don't think should have been moved (based on the information I've been able to track down anyway). These are File:SMS Von der Tann entering Scapa.jpg, File:SMS Seydlitz interned.jpg, File:SMS Seydlitz entering Scapa.jpg, File:SMS Moltke entering Scapa.jpg, File:SMS Bayern sinking2.jpg, and File:SMS Baden salvage.jpg. They're all sourced to the book Scapa and a Camera: Pictoral Impressions of Five Years Spent at the Grand Fleet Base, which was originally published in the UK. I haven't been able to track down a date of death for the author, C.W. Burrows, who also took the photos, so without that we can't know for certain that the images are PD in the UK. I did track down an obituary in the BNA for a C. W. Burrows, who died in 1952, but there's no information in the obit to confirm that it's the same person. I think without any additional information, we need to move the photos back to en.wiki. Parsecboy (talk) 12:25, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Parsecboy: Hi, thanks for letting me know. I have restored the local files and deleted the ones on Commons. You may want to modify the licensing of these particular images. plicit 12:41, 19 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
