Lycée Jacques Prévert de Longjumeau is a general and technological high school located at 23 rue Jules Ferry in Longjumeau, Essonne. Created in March 1977, the lycée was completely renovated from 2017 to 2019.

It accommodates 1,000 students from seconde to terminale, in the general and technological streams (STMG - Sciences et Technologies du Management et de la Gestion), and around 100 students in the Section de Technicien Supérieur CG (Comptabilité et Gestion)[1] and SAM (Support à l'Action Managériale)[2], under school or apprentice status, preparing a two-year BTS (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur).

The curriculum includes 4 modern languages, 9 specialties in the general stream, 3 specific courses in the STMG final year, and 9 electives[3].

History of the lycée

Founded in 1977[4], the lycée was completely renovated between 2017 and 2019, by the Scoping company[5]. The renovation project included a restructuring and extension of the lycée, and enabled the creation of an amphitheater, a Documentation and Information Center (CDI) and a reorganization of the half-board facilities.

Prior to their renovation, the Lycée's premises were used during the summer of 2012 for the filming of Les Profs[6]. The exterior scenes were shot in the courtyard of the neighboring Jules Ferry school, and the interior scenes in the lycée. 80 young people from Longjumeau, Saulx-les-Chartreux and Ballainvilliers took part in the shooting as extras.

Modern languages

Students at the lycée can choose between 4 modern languages:

  • German,
  • German, English
  • Spanish,
  • Italian.

General stream specialties

Students in the first and last years of the general stream can choose their specialties from among the 9 offered at the school[7] :

  • HGGSP (History, Geography, Geopolitics and Political Sciences)[8],
  • HLP (Humanities, Literature and Philosophy)[9],
  • LLCER (Langues, Littératures et Cultures Etrangères et Régionales) English[10],
  • LLCER (Foreign and Regional Languages, Literatures and Cultures) Spanish,
  • Mathematics[11],
  • NSI (Digital Technology and Computer Sciences),
  • Physics and Chemistry[12],
  • SES (Economics and Social Sciences),
  • SVT (Biology).

Specific courses in the STMG final year

The Lycée offers its 70 students in the STMG final year a choice of 3 specific courses:

  • Marketing,
  • Management and Finance,
  • Human Resources and Communication.

Optional courses

In seconde, students can choose from the following optional courses :

  • Plastic arts,
  • Physical Education[13],
  • Italian (LVC),
  • Language and Culture of Antiquity (LCA) Latin,
  • Management,
  • Santé et Social.

With the exception of Management and Santé et Social, which are reserved for seconde students, these options are intended to be pursued throughout the entire lycée curriculum, and can be taken in both the general and technological streams.

In their final year of high school, students in the general stream can take an optional course in expert mathematics (for students taking the mathematics specialization in their final year) or complementary mathematics (for students leaving the mathematics specialization in their final year, or those who took specific mathematics in première)[14].

Terminale students in the general and technological streams can take the optional DGEMC course (Droit et Grands Enjeux du Monde Contemporain).

Post-baccalaureate programmes

The Lycée offers two Sections de Technicien Supérieur (STS): Comptabilité et Gestion (CG), and Support à l'Action Managériale (SAM). Students in STS prepare for a two-year Brevet de Technicien Supérieur.

In the SAM program, students can study either as students or as apprentices, in partnership with the Agefa Paris Ile-de-France apprentice training center[15].By 2025-2026, second-year STS CG students should also be able to study as apprentices.

Post-bac modern languages

STS SAM students take English and Spanish. STS CG students take English.

Students' parents

Parents who are members of the PEEP federation (Parents d'Elèves de l'Enseignement Public) sit on the school's Board of Directors. They also represent families on class councils, and take part in various school events.
