If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

    This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests

Edit this section if you want to move a request from Uncontroversial to Contested.

Uncontroversial technical requests

Administrator needed

Edit this section if a request requires an administrator (e.g., because the page to be moved is move-protected or the target is creation-protected). Place the request in another section if it only requires a page mover.

Contested technical requests

 Not done Why not simply move your comment to the correct page? Not going to move the redirect talk page as this will over right the existing article talk. Maybe you want a history merge, but then what's the need, just move your comment? Polyamorph (talk) 08:32, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Requests to revert undiscussed moves

  • Charles Spencer Chaplin III (currently a redirect to Charles Chaplin Jr.)  Charles Chaplin Jr. (move · discuss) – Undiscussed move from last month. Broke a lot of incoming links. Doesn't look based in policy, and doesn't seem likely he was ever known by this name. --Quiz shows 07:50, 16 November 2021 (UTC)*[reply

  • Air Tahiti Nui Flight 64 (currently a redirect to World's longest domestic flight)  World's longest domestic flight (move · discuss) – An Undiscussed move made recently, While I can see the good intent/value behind it, this article's topic, contents, and sections are not about Flight TN64 (which I would expect to talk about the route, the schedule, details about the flight like similar articles), it is about the World's Longest Domestic flight(s) and has sections suggesting it (the current record holder for passenger and cargo). This should be kept up to date. TN64 deserves its own page (like SQ21), but not by deleting general topic page. For further clarity suggest relationship of a dedicated page about a specific flight should be similar to the relationship between Longest flights -> Singapore Airlines Flights 21 and 22 , not as it is currently, effectively retitling "Longest Flights - SQ21" Thank you for your consideration and to all for their good-intended contributions.
