According to Russian Wikipedia, this religion is either monotheistic or maybe pantheistic (one deity, Antsva, with a multitude of manifestations), and it's not a reconstruction – most nominal Christians and Muslims have never renounced it. I think that the article has been named this way as Schnirelmann uses this term in his article. Actually he doesn't say it's a reconstruction, unlike the Slavic neo-paganism "Since the turn of the 1980s, a growth of Neo-Paganism has been observed in the Middle Volga region, in North Ossetia-Alania, and in Abkhazia. Pagan traditions had never disappeared there completely and, in contrast to the Slavic and Baltic regions, there was no need to invent too much by reference to books, as almost all the resources were intact there." Hewitt uses the terms "Abkhaz pantheon" and "paganism" interchangeably but writes about the "god of gods in whom all the other gods are contained." I think we could rename the article Abkhaz native religion which is currently a redirect. Alaexis_¿question? 13:56, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can see there are no objections :)

I've renamed it to "Abkhaz traditional religion" since it's used slightly more frequently in scholarly sources (e.g., Opportunity, Identity, and Resources in Ethnic Mobilization by Fawaz, p. 73). Alaexis_¿question? 19:45, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
