New start for this page
As at August 2009, this page contained very little, despite there being hopefully a number of parties potentially able to contribute (witness >500 attendees at the recent e-Biosphere Biodiversity Informatics conference in London, plus the current funding of major BI initiatives including GBIF, OBIS, EOL, Catalogue of Life, etc. etc.). I have attempted to make a start in re-casting this page to properly reflect the BI discipline, also deprecating the previous more-or-less duplicate page
One thing I am not sure of - some previous page content residing here (including a graphic) tended towards the area of niche modelling. I have included a reference or two to this domain in the current text as restructured here, but am not sure whether it belongs here properly or should go on a new page that could be titled e.g. "Niche modelling" or similar. Comments welcome
