Legislation

This article includes definitions from the EU legislation (Directive).--Diamondland (talk) 17:37, 12 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Legislation copyright

It is the public European Union legislation (Act). Not only it is allowed to obey it, but also to spread it (how can one obey without know?). Legislation cannot be copyrighted.--Diamondland (talk) 11:15, 16 October 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Diamondland (talkcontribs)

Actually, laws are under copyright in many countries, although some do license them for reproduction. U.S. law, however, doesn't recognize copyright in legal code: "Edicts of government, such as judicial opinions, administrative rulings, legislative enactments, public ordinances, and similar official legal documents are not copyrightable for reasons of public policy. This applies to such works whether they are Federal, State, or local as well as to those of foreign governments."(206.01, "Edicts of Government") Accordingly, we may be able to publish this regardless of any copyright restrictions that apply elsewhere. I am verifying this, however. That said, its inclusion isn't exactly within Wikipedia's standard practices. As Wikipedia:Do not include the full text of lengthy primary sources, we would usually summarize and explain, in encyclopedic fashion, and link to the lengthier text elsewhere. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:24, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
