Review

  • Ah, yes. No worries, take your time. I'll read thru this article in the morning and keep my suggestions with me until I'm able to post them all at once.

Early and personal life

October revolution

Chief of Armed Forces

  • car accident and incapacitated for a while – does source say for how long?
    I'm afraid not.
  • next presidential election, scheduled for November 1950 – link to some part of the text to
    Guatemalan presidential election, 1950
    Done.
  • (illiterate women, for example, were still denied the vote) – I think this flows better as a footnote. Let me know if you need help creating one. A source would be needed for this claim too, but I will infer it is the same once used later.
It is indeed the same source. I'm not keen on pushing it to a footnote: I think it's crucial to note that the popular reform which formed the basis of support for Arbenz and Arevalo did not go quite that far.
  • In the 1948 congressional election – seems link this is the article:
    Guatemalan parliamentary election, 1948
    , please link.
    Done.

Sources

Pages

  • As I mentioned in the talkpage, I think this article will help readers more if the pages were more accurate (instead of taking 25 pages all at once).
    Done.

Absence of Spanish sources

  • Well, this is a complicated one. The article is well-written and covers the subject from an early life → military career → politics → death stage(s), which means it is comprehensive. I'm no expert in Guatemalan history, but I would assume that Spanish-language sources would provide more detail for this biography. Have you tried cross-referencing the information with the Spanish article here? It seems to be well sourced. I would recommend you add certain Spanish-language sources as "Further reading" in a section, like this book here. If you plan to take this to FA, I would think you would need more Spanish sources, but you're good for GA. If you need access to books not available online, let me know. I have a interlibrary loan access at the University of Texas.
This is a good point, but I have no plans of taking this to FAC as of now; there's just not enough material, and I am hampered by my Spanish, which is very basic. I'm also not keen on using references of which I am unable to evaluate reliability. I've added the further reading entry: if you have access to the book, I wonder if you could add publisher information.

Infobox

Unsourced content

  • Carlos Paz Tejada and Daniel Corado – They are mentioned in the infobox but nowhere else. Please add them in the body paragraphs with a source, that way we can keep them in the infobox per
    WP:INFOBOXCITE
    .
I've just dumped a lot of that. en.wiki has an unhealthy fascination with overly detailed infoboxes, and much of this is not going to be sourceable without digging around in Spanish language primary sources which are likely not available outside Guatemala.
  • Army Colonel – this word is used in the intro and infobox, but there are no sources for such title. Please add it in the body paragrahs below with a source (I personally would refrain for adding sources in the lead, per
    WP:LEADCITE
    ).
Fixed. Gleijeses says he was a Major, I mixed that up, somehow...

Tenure as Interim President

  • Do you think the infobox should include his tenure as Interim President? One of the categories has him as President, and he technically was for a short period. I'll leave it up to you.
Never mind, seems like "Head of State and Government of Guatemala" is the Interim President tenure I was looking for.
As you said, this isn't necessary.
  • @
MX: I believe I have addressed all your comments, though I've disagreed in a couple of places. Let me know if there's anything further. Thanks for a thorough review. Vanamonde (talk) 03:47, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply
